பல்வேறு மண்ணிலும் வளரும், களர் வடிகால் வசதியற்ற மண் உகந்ததல்ல வளமான குறுமண் மிக ஏற்றது. அதிக மணலாக இருந்தால் மரம் வளரும். ஆனால் பழத்தின் தரம் குறையும்.
மண்கண்டம் ஆழம் வேண்டும். ஆழம் குறைந்தால் பழம் புளிக்கும்.
